**Position Description**:
Our Café Cook will be responsible for delivering exceptional breakfast and lunch menu items in our fast-paced café while maintaining focus on the Nanaimo Bakery & Café’s vision to “provide quality, handmade, artisanal food and beverages, made with care and intention”.

**Responsibilities**:
The Café Cook will be responsible to:

- Execute orders from a predetermined breakfast and lunch menu in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
- Keep the café kitchen clean and organized at all times
- Know and follow all standards set forth by management and Food Safety guidelines in food quality, employee standards, as well as cleanliness of all work areas
- Prep ingredients and station daily as required
- Able to follow recipes accurately in order to maintain a consistent standard of food quality and service delivery
- Able to execute high volume short order tickets as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Skills & Abilities**:

- Exceptional customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a clear, kind and effective communication style.
- Physically able to regularly lift up to 20kg, as well as stand, and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
- Able to promote safety awareness by following safe work procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions, practices, or injuries, and following reporting protocols.
- Be excited about work daily and want to be part of the Nanaimo Bakery & Café to its full potential

- Technical skills: Knife skills, Knowledge of all egg preparations

**Education & Experience**:

- Minimum of 1 year experience in a fast paced breakfast position.
- Valid Food safe Certificate - Level One (mandatory)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 16-40 per week

**Salary**: From $16.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekend availability

- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
