**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Maynards Antique & Fine Art Ltd. is seeking to recruit an Auction Assistant for our auction room in Richmond. We are seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual, capable of setting up and preparing the auction floor for viewing and sales, consigning and controlling inventory, and maintaining the security and cleanliness of the building and surroundings.

This position is full-time, with possible weekends and evening work during auctions, setup days, and previews. Extensive training will be provided.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Learn and identify various items based on style, time period, or region to effectively set up an auction floor.
- Work with team members to move and install furniture and art pieces throughout the showroom.
- Assist with finalizing lotting of an auction, identify description and estimate errors.
- Communicate and coordinate with Auctioneers for upcoming sales, manage showroom space for incoming consignments, current sale, and all upcoming sales for preview.
- Quickly identify work flow issues and coordinate with staff for more effective development of sale, ensure smooth progression of sales.
- Communicate with consignor and buyers regarding Terms & Conditions, answer any inquiries regarding sales and items in upcoming sales.
- Identify and record incoming items for consignment.
- Maintain and track inventory, manage and organize items for upcoming auctions and unsold items for past sales.
- Effectively manage staff and identify time sensitive issues throughout the course of a sale set up.
- Track items sold during an auction, and release the correct items to clients.
- Identify condition issues and troubleshoot any disputes after a sale.

**QUALIFICATION**
- High levels of fitness ability to move large pieces of furniture is essential.
- Approachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team oriented work style.
- Proven analytical and independent problem-solving skills. Strong ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
- Must Possess a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and integrity.
- Ability to manage and adapt to changes during greater work flow periods.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate in English, with a good command of written English is essential.
- interest in art, design, or history is essential.
- Working experience with auction, gallery, artists, or events coordinating is an asset.
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
- A second language is an asset.
- Reference required from previous employer
