Instructor - Medical Office Administration Program

**Job Summary**
The Medical instructor is required to prepare students for a career in **hospital units and ward, clinics, medical offices, long term care facilities, and other allied healthcare settings**. Students receive training in office procedures, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, word processing, and database management. They also learn hospital simulation software, transcribing doctors’ orders, psychiatry, and how mental health issues affect treatment and care. On completing this program, students will have excellent communication skills, will be proficient in medical software programs, and will possess a good knowledge of the medical office environment. Students will be well versed in hospital hierarchy, departments, and procedures.
Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual. The Instructor is responsible for following the provided instructor manuals and using the resource materials to train students with the required knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field.
CIMT College places a premium on professional conduct, combined with excellence in classroom instruction, with primary emphasis on hands-on training.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
- Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
- Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
- Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
- Provide feedback on student performance
- Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
- Maintain attendance records accurately
- Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
- Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
- Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving
- Perform other related duties as required
**Skills Required**:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
- Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
- Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
- Online teaching (training provided, but computer skills are essential)

**Qualifications**
- Have 48 months of work experience in the vocation **OR**:
- Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation **OR**:
- Have 24 months of work experience in the vocation **AND**
- Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree
- Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent
- Graduate of a registered PCC or equivalent
- Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
- ** Must be available to teach online as per the accepted schedule
