As a **Shop Hand/Shipper & Receiver Assistant**at Savanna, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the shop and assisting with the shipping and receiving of equipment and parts. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs, performing general labor tasks, and assisting in the timely processing of shipments and receipts.

In business since 2001, Savanna Drilling offers an extensive fleet of modern drilling rigs and experienced personnel. From our extremely efficient and quick moving Hybrid and Top Drive Single (TDS) rigs to our Heavy and Ultra Heavy Doubles capable of drilling over 6000m (18,000ft) right up to our 1500HP Velox Triple rig platform with ratings of up to 750,000-pound hook loads, our fleet is capable of drilling virtually any onshore oil and natural gas well in the world safely and cost effectively. Savanna Drilling has operational bases in Canada, the United States, and Australia.

**Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)**:

- Shop Maintenance and Organization_
- Maintain a clean and organized shop facility area, free from hazards.
- Assist in maintaining shop supplies and inventory.
- Dispose of waste materials in compliance with company policies and environmental standards.
- Assist with yard work, such as organizing the pipe storage area and setting out supplies for the rigs and shop.
- Assist with moving equipment for rig moves when needed.
- Equipment & Tool Maintenance_
- Assist mechanics and electricians with inspecting, maintenance and repairing equipment as directed.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment.
- General Labor_
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Prepare materials for projects and field work.
- Perform routine tasks such as painting, cleaning, or assembling.
- Pick up/deliver general supplies using company vehicle.
- Transport employees as needed.
- Shipping & Receiving_
- Assist with the shipping and receiving of rig and rig equipment spare parts.
- Assist with the preparation, packing and labeling of outgoing shipments.
- Create shipping labels, packing slips, and other documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers and ensure timely pickup and delivery.
- Monitor shipping schedules and report any delays or issues.
- Inspect and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Document and report any discrepancies, damages, or missing items.
- Unpack and organize received goods in designated warehouse locations.
- Assist with the accurate record keeping of shipping and receiving documents.
- Safety Compliance_
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Perform safety checks of the company’s powered mobile equipment and vehicles.
- Ensure Safety equipment such as SCBA, Fire Extinguishers, etc. are certified and restocked in the shop for future use.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Experience operating forklifts and Kubota.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate appropriate equipment for lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, handling or transporting heavy or awkward loads.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making skills, ability to trouble shoot and problem solve.

**Education and Experience**:

- Previous experience in a shop or industrial setting is an asset
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must possess valid H2S and First Aid.
- Loader ticket considered an asset.
- May require flexibility to work overtime or varying shifts as needed.
