Brechin & Huffman is seeking a real estate law clerk to assist our residential real estate lawyers with their day-to-day tasks, including working directly with clients. This role will keep you busy handling residential real estate transactions from beginning to end, tackling complex situations and multiple simultaneous responsibilities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Handle residential purchase, sale and refinancing files from beginning to end.
- Conduct title searches and other off-title due diligence for residential purchases, sales and mortgage transactions.
- Draft and review transaction documents such as agreements of purchase and sale, requisition letters, deeds and other registrable instruments, affidavits, statements of adjustment and funds summaries.
- Draft all routine correspondence including final reports to clients and lenders.
- Conduct title searches and register documentation using Teraview and Unity.
- Assess and resolve title issues, including analyzing and summarizing registered encumbrances.
- Organize and coordinate files and closings.
- Maintain and update current and archived files in filing system.
- Ancillary duties, including administrative tasks, as requested from time to time.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- 3 - 5 years experience as a legal assistant or law clerk.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Pleasant and outgoing demeanor and be efficient, organized and self-reliant,
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and demands, and handle a large workload volume, i.e. 30 transactions/month during the “busy season”.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, PCLaw/Soluno, Teraview, Unity and DocuSign.
- Familiarity with corporate/commercial transactions and/or wills and estates matters would be an asset.

**Language Requirement**:

- Proficient in written and spoken English.

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
