**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Trade Compliance Specialist for our Mississauga, Ontario location. This role will have responsibility and oversight for the ACCO Brands Canada business to ensure compliance and risk mitigation in all areas of international trade in accordance with customs directives, national laws and other requirements. The Trade Compliance Specialist provides support to the Sr. Director Global Trade and Customs in regards to daily management of customs import operations and will assist with technical advice and research for Canadian business activities, classification analysis and determination, BTI creation and overall customs activities.

This remote role will work across the matrix with the ACCO Brands Global Trade Compliance, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for import classification of products.
- Maintain records pertaining to classification and import entries with continues evaluation.
- Review and monitor performance of Customs Brokers, ensuring correctness of any customs compliance activities handled by the broker, and provide monthly analysis to management.
- Interact and support all customs initiatives as they relate to ACCO Brands import and export activities (Tooling Reconciliation, Assist Declarations, New Supplier Reviews, End use Advise, Tariff Classifications, proper valuation etc.)
- Conduct trade compliance audits, ensuring corrective action processes are in place to comply with all relevant customs regulations and trade laws, and other regulatory agency requirements
- Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews measuring brokers against KPIs.
- Support where required, qualification of free trade agreement programs and recordkeeping of applicable documents used to substantiate the decision.
- Review and update as needed the Customs Compliance Manual, ensuring it is a working and living document as proof to Customs that procedures are being supported.
- Provide support and ensure that all procedures are documented and tested; engage in education and improvement plans where needed.
- Provide compliance metrics report to management on a monthly basis.
- Interact with activities as they relate to Customs audit activities, internal audit support and SOX compliance.
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma or degree in International Business
- Customs Brokers license considered an asset
- 8+ years’ experience working in international customs/trade compliance and proven track record for enhancing customs compliance programs and automating portions of global trade.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian Customs Directives and Requirements, including CARM.
- Knowledge of Export Compliance laws (Canadian export laws, Export Administration Regulations
- US IncoTerms® 2021 and Logistics practices.)
- Knowledge of rules of origin: preferential and non-preferential as well as an ability to read bills of material for determination.
- Self-starter with strong organizational, planning and follow-through capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and through cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent risk mitigation and problem-solving capability
- Experience working with global teams and vendors an asset
- Strong computer skills - inclusive of full Microsoft Business Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience using ERP systems (I.e. SAP)
- Some domestic and international travel is required (approximately 10%)
