Your Role:
CBC Saskatchewan is looking for a dynamic new host for our radio show Blue Sky, as well as our weekly podcast This is Saskatchewan. This is a six-month term, covering a leave.

You know Saskatchewan. Our communities. Our people. And are keen to tell the story of living in this province through the experience of the people who live here.

An exceptional journalist and a keen observer, you must be able to quickly analyze a broad range of issues and thrive in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of live, local radio. You have a strong grasp on Saskatchewan’s political landscape, culture and its economy, and you understand how these forces affect our day-to-day lives.

You understand that audiences want to be both entertained and informed, and you realize the importance of making audiences feel welcome and part of a community. You know that using a full range of tone is key to strong radio current affairs programming. You understand the intimacy of radio, and the made-for-listening-on-headphone qualities of podcasts.

You have a sense of adventure, an eclectic range of interests and a keen desire to explore our province and learn other perspectives. You are passionate about championing stories from Saskatchewan’s under-represented communities, and you love meeting listeners where they live.

You care deeply about audience. About authentically connecting with listeners and viewers where they are at. And are keen to explore new ways to take our storytelling to audiences who don’t consume radio storytelling in traditional ways.

As a leader on the Blue Sky and podcast team, it’s clear you care about your colleagues. You act as a collaborator, and are always looking for creative solutions to challenges.

Your responsibilities:

Your profile:
- An engaging, curious, and spontaneous on-air personality, with a wide range of genuine interests, knowledge and insight, reflecting curiosity in many current affairs topics, and an ability to make them relevant to existing and new audiences.- Strong journalistic skills, demonstrated through original story ideas, live interviewing, innovative storytelling, and writing and vetting abilities.- Lover working with audio.
