Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and IT, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to graduate students in **BUSI 5120G - Professional Accounting.**

**The current schedule is**:
This assignment will not be filled by one single incumbent and is composed of three distinct topics (please refer to the Required Experience section). The specific number of sections and topics are as follows:

- Tax (five sessions)
- Current Audit and Accounting Topics (four sessions)
- Ethics (three sessions)

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments. The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.

Qualifications:
**Note that this course will be delivered in-person at Ontario Tech University’s North Campus in Oshawa, Ontario.**

Required Education:

- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in business
- A Canadian CPA designation

**Required Skills**:

- Evidence of a strong ethical mindset
- The ability to teach with cases
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff and students in meeting the objectives of the GDIP
- A proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies
- Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment

**Required Experience**:

- **For Current Accounting and Assurance sessions: experience and familiarity with current topics in financial accounting and assurance, including projects in process for IFRS and ASPE, accounting and auditing of non-routine and complex transactions and governance issues relevant to CPAs (Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Management Discussion and Analysis). Experience with these topics in public practice is required
- For Tax sessions: a senior level tax person in professional practice with at least five years experience with taxation
- For Ethics sessions: in-depth knowledge and familiarity with the rules of professional conduct for Chartered Professional Accountants in Canada, and in-depth knowledge and familiarity with the CPA Way materials on ethical behaviour

Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
