Fleet & Maintenance Supervisor

Mustang Freightways is growing We are looking for a Fleet & Maintenance Supervisor to join our Calgary team We are looking for a passionate self starter to work with our Fleet & Safety team.
The Fleet Supervisor will be responsible for helping with fleet related maintenance including monitoring DVIR’s and service intervals for all forklifts, trucks, and trailers. And help coordinate repairs and maintenance with local vendors while monitoring costs and ensuring equipment meets the terminals operational needs.
Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Manager, the Fleet & Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for;
- Monitor and schedule maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles for the Calgary & Edmonton terminals by reviewing DVIRs
- Monitor and evaluate vehicle maintenance, including the service and repair functions to identify needs and determine financial effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Complete minor repairs on site as needed.
- Confer with various internal departments concerning vehicle needs and issues.
- Review and approve all invoices related to purchases of supplies for trucks and equipment in Edmonton & Calgary
- Enforcement of fleet administration standards and vehicle operating policies.
- Evaluate the performance of drivers during initial training and interviews.
- Assist with incident and accident investigations as needed.
- Direct off-site maintenance, repair and recovery functions for roadside vehicle malfunctions.
- Research and evaluate new vehicles and assist in the coordination of the purchasing of and to assure optimal pricing and quality of vehicles for the business.
- Arrange the selling or disposal of used vehicles.
- Assure adequate personnel, equipment, and material levels to meet maintenance, servicing, and repair needs.
- Assist in maintaining of a variety of records and files related to vehicles, maintenance, repairs, projects, mileage, depreciation, financial activity and assigned duties.
- monitors fuel used from the yard tanks for trailers (heaters and reefers).
- Monitor DEF usage & invoices.
- The ability to be on call when required
- Other duties as required.
- Possess a Class 1 driver’s license (mandatory)
- Be mechanically inclined,
- Have transportation industry knowledge and experience,
- Be able to manage people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times,
- Be able to work under pressure,
- Be flexible and adaptable to change,
- Strong attention to detail,
- Very organized with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills,
- Excellent customer service/communication skills,
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude,
- Overtime as required,
- Experience operating a forklift, pallet jack, power jack to load trailers.
- Forklift train the trainer certification an asset
