Payroll Manager, Edmonton

**Location and Reporting Structure**

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, this position will be based in Edmonton

**Responsibilities**

  • Oversee time administration and payroll, including quality assurance, for all employees - hourly, salaried and daily paid groups;
  • Ensure all payroll operations are compliant with internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations and relevant labor laws.
  • Maintain and regularly test payroll-related controls, documentation, and audit trails.
  • Work closely with People, Finance, and Compliance teams to align payroll processes with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with payroll service providers and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues promptly.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits, including providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Train and guide team members and stakeholders on payroll policies, procedures, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Lead the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations and aligning payroll architecture with business and operational needs.

**Desired Competencies and Requirements**

  • Seven (7) years of Payroll with at least five (5) years in a professional work capacity leading Payroll and financial controls in a similar environment pertaining to organizational size and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
  • Licensing through the National Payroll Institute as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) with preference for a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP); and
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems related to payroll and financial components and a robust understanding of the Sox Control environment.

**Compensation and Benefits**

For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $155,000.00

B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.
