The Opportunity

Our Power & Energy Solutions Group is currently seeking a Junior Trader / Analyst to join our Canadian Gas Storage Marketing and Trading team, based in Calgary, AB.

Reporting into the Manager, Energy Trading, this position provides support to trading, scheduling and analytic tasks encompassing the Canadian natural gas grid, while progressively learning all aspects of the business.

What you will do
- Optimize TCPL transport in Eastern Canada as well as identify new opportunities to grow the book in this market
- Perform supportive market data analytics to identify and report future trade opportunities and past trade effectiveness
- Maintain a pro-active awareness of regional pipeline open seasons, short-term capacity releases and function as a versatile analytics resource in support of both Trading & Origination
- Support the evolution of short
- & long-term fundamental analysis & proprietary conclusions to the direct benefit of the Canadian team
- Liaise with internal groups including Risk, Accounting and Operations
- Create and update reports on trading activities, time spreads, location spreads and other supply and demand fundamentals impacting the desk assets
- Learn and suggest improvements to current trading & reporting processes
- Assist traders and schedulers with various ad hoc reports
- Work on-call 12 weekends per year with responsibility for buying and selling to optimize our facilities and take advantage of market movements

Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in statistics, math, finance, commerce, or other relevant discipline
- 5 or more years of related experience
- Strong commercial acumen with understanding of commodity markets in North America

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of TC Energy specific pipeline fundamentals along TCPL, NGTL, GTN, GLGT, and NBPL
- Experience on pipelines adjoining TC Energy’s pipeline footprint
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency with various software programs such as Python, SQL and Power BI
