**Job Summary**
The Human Resources Generalist must perform a range of duties supporting managers and HR staff. The duties consist of payroll, safety, policies, training, labour relations, relocation, diversity, education, recruiting and other HR programs. Provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Timely response to management and employee inquiries
- Administer and educate employees on benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
- Administer retirement procedures
- Assist with employee disciplinary process, terminations and conduct exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations
- Provide assistance with employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations)
- Administration of the new hire orientation program, including content, preparation of documents, presentation
- Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions
- Assist with the recruitment and selection process of new hires, posting ads, screening resumes, interviewing, conducting reference checks and initiating criminal background checks
- Prepare offer letters and contracts, and organize new hire documentation
- Maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems
- Provide recommendations for policies and processes
- Provide research as requested
- Keep job descriptions current
- Administer workers compensation injury and payroll reporting
- Communication and ad-hoc reporting to management
- Safety Management - work with management to ensure facility and employee activities meet or exceed government regulations, also keep company objectives, update evacuation staff list, be part of Health and Safety committee, coordinate meetings and follow up with Branch Manager and HO, participate in accident / injury investigations and submit accident / injury reports to HO
- Supplies/Purchasing - purchase office supplies and janitorial supplies
- Process and accrual vendor invoices on monthly basis
- Manage daily mails and couriers
- Support Head Office Administration Department for various administrative duties time to time
- Various other duties and projects as assigned
**Qualifications**
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in HR required.
- Work experience or education in employment law or other area of regulations preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and employment standards and the ability to enforce laws, rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge of Dayforce HRIS
- Demonstrated work knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred
- Basic research skills required
- Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws and policies
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key external stakeholders
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Ability to interpret and uphold company policies and procedures
- Professional appearance and manners
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to remain objective in stressful situations
- High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning and discretion
- Ability to speak, write and translate Japanese is an asset
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
**Educations/Certifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and or CHRP/CPHR required.
