**Family Preservation and Reunification Worker - Transportation**

**Location**:
Otipemisiwak Métis Government Family Reunification Building, Edmonton, AB

**Position Status**: Full-time (40 hours/week), Parental Leave Coverage (8-month contract position)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Transport residents to and from varying destinations at scheduled times in a safe and efficient manner.
- Complete a pre-drive checklist daily.
- Plan driving routes to determine the most efficient trip times.
- Stay informed on traffic, construction, and weather reports regarding road conditions and adjusting driving routes as needed.
- Perform safety checks on car seats and booster seats.
- Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
- Maintain interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness through booking car washes and detailing services.
- Assist residents with loading and unloading items such as groceries and bags.
- Perform administrative duties such as mileage log sheets, walk-a-round checklists, contact notes, critical incident reports, and preparing other documentation as requested.
- Build and maintain rapport to provide daily support for residents to increase the family’s wellbeing, engagement, and capacity to support their child/children.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

**Skills & Competencies**

The Family Preservation and Reunification Worker - Transportation position requires motivated, coachable, and organized individuals who enjoy being part of a diverse team and have a passion for Métis children and families. This position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving abilities to effectively carry out required tasks.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, including performing routine checks such as tire pressure, oil levels, and fluid levels to ensure optimal vehicle condition.
- Ability to navigate challenging weather conditions and anticipate and avoid potential hazards on the road.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and communicate and respond calmly in difficult situations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- An in-depth understanding of the Métis Nation of Alberta and Métis culture, people, and values is an asset.
- Culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and compassionate with an ability to engage with community members in diverse settings.
- Knowledge or experience working with families who have experienced trauma, addictions, and emotional or mental challenges.
- A strategic thinker and problem solver who can anticipate challenges, determine required outcomes, and use innovative approaches to develop a supportive relationship with residents.
- Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Excellent organizational skills, including efficiently responding to numerous demands, and complex and varied inquiries from staff and residents.

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience as a Driver in a professional capacity, preferably transporting the public.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Experience working in a Human Services position is an asset.
- Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Must have a clear driving record.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check with renewal every two years is required.
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check with renewal every two years is required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
