As an Associate Group Underwriter, with a focus in financial underwriting, you will be responsible preparing financial reports and Administrative Services Only (ASO) reconciliations using the appropriate standardized techniques and principles for clients sharing in their plan risk. You will work closely with our group insurance underwriters and business development teams to meet sales and profitability goals as well as provide creative solutions tailored to client needs.

**What will you do?**
- Prepare financial report and ASO reconciliations, including calculating surplus/deficit, cash flows and all taxes credited and debited;
- Performs various financial transactions such as premium holidays, cheque requisitions and tax calculations;
- Process surplus payments and deficit recoveries;
- Provides support to underwriters and partner with the sales and service team to provide outstanding client services;
- Assists with preparation of financial letters;
- Verify accuracy of systems reports and, if applicable, corrects errors;
- Ensures that other departments using financial data have correct information on each client;
- Participate in various department or inter-departmental projects
- Meet Sun Life’s quality and service standards and respect deadlines

**What do you need to succeed?**
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Suite
- Group Benefit knowledge is an asset
- University Degree in mathematics, finance, accounting or equivalent experience
- CEBS certificate is an asset

**Skills Requirements**:

- Solid analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills as well as a basic understanding of accounting
- Have a structured and systematic approach aimed at making a unique contribution to various situations in compliance with internal policies and directives
- Attention to details
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, under pressure, in an organized, efficient and autonomous manner
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
