The Human Resources Department delivers various services to its stakeholders including: Accessibility, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Diversity, Learning and Development, Job Evaluation and Descriptions, Performance Management, Labour Relations, Wellness, Health and Safety, Compensation and Benefits and HRIS Systems Management.

**Education **(degree/diploma/certifications):

- Currently enrolled in a recognized College or University Co-op program, preferably in Human Resources Management or a related discipline.

**Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in a customer service and/or administrative role within an office work environment.

**Knowledge/Skill/Ability**:

- General knowledge of HR practices and relevant employment legislation
- Demonstrated ability to:

- communicate written information in a manner that can be understood by others
- exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential, sensitive and/or controversial information
- interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts in a political and community/client service environment
- listen to, interpret and understand information presented verbally
- maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
- read, interpret and understand information presented in writing
- work under pressure to meet deadlines and/or peak period workloads that may extend beyond the normal work
- Intermediate interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and customer service skills
- Intermediate organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), human resources information systems, interview testing software and the Internet

- Please note that this is a requirement of the position for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the **Police Record Check Procedure**. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.

**Work Term**:January - April 2025

**Wage**:$18.94 to $25.79 per hour

**Hours**:The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
