DOCK SUPERVISOR (AFTERNOON SHIFT 5PM START)

APPS currently has an opening for a Dock Supervisor. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, this role is to coordinate the safe, efficient flow freight through the terminal, to meet all customer and company requirements. The Dock Supervisor will be responsible for all afternoon dock staff, and ensuring shift is adequately staffed to meet scheduling. The Dock Supervisor will also develop and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and department personnel.

- ¨ Able to schedule equipment and trailer loading and unloading to meet next day’s delivery requirements.
- ¨ Able to work long hours
- ¨ Available to work afternoon and night shift to cover for Supervisor on vacation if needed

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- The Dock Supervisor will optimize the dock operations based on volumes and meet all customer requirements in an economically feasible manner for Apps Cartage Inc.
- Be aware of the daily run scheduling - The Dock Supervisor must be familiar with all customers' regular service requirements. Work to ensure that deliveries have been set-up to meet all regular and special service requirements.
- Ensure trailers are off-loaded and loaded safely and accurately on schedule.
- Work with the Fleet, Safety & Compliance Manager to be sure that forklift defects are reported and forklifts are removed from service for preventive or scheduled maintenance.
- Work with dock staff to ensure proper staffing for shift and all disciplinary issues related to attendance, freight damage, and the safe operation of company equipment.
- Coordinate and communicate on a regular basis with Operations.
- Demonstrate the ability to tactfully handle difficult situations with department employees and customers.
- Work as a team player and role model with little or no supervision.
- Ensure that customer service is immediately notified of any delays or damage as soon as it is known by ensuring that the night shift provides a complete dock report covering all items such as, short shipments, miss-shipments damages, etc.
- On-going supervision of the operation’s activities
- Ensure adequate departmental staffing to meet volume demands and provide for proper training of all reporting staff.
- Ensure all terminal security procedures are being adhered to and that all reports fully understand the importance of the security systems in place.
- Ensure Centerline procedures are understood and followed by all dock staff.
- Responsible for scheduling and chairing monthly meetings with subordinates and supplying a copy of the minutes to the senior management.

**Salary**: From $63,000.00 per year
