Festival Customer Service Assistant

**Job Summary**: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). Reporting to the Executive Director, the Festival Assistant will assist the Ottawa Fringe team managers on various projects and tasks including programming, volunteers, logistics and administration.
**Responsibilities**:
Provides administration support before and during the festival to the portfolio of front of house, artist management, and event coordination including but not limited to:
- Support Front of House by assisting patrons with transactions and at points of entry into the theatres.
- Support the Associate Artistic Director in event planning, vendor and performer contracts, and training material preparation.
- Assist the Outreach Coordinator with recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
- Support the Ottawa Fringe team onsite during undercurrents and Ottawa Fringe Festival.
- Work with the team to post-evaluate the event and make recommendations for the next year’s event.
- Support Ottawa Fringe's accessibility initiatives and integrate them into workflows.
- Assist in other duties, as required.
**Skills and Qualifications Required**:
- At least one year work experience in administration, customer service or similar role.
- Comfortable speaking to the public.
- Proficient in Google Workspace platforms, with experience in Canva considered an asset.
- A people person who is positive, responsible, and enthusiastic.
- Well organized, works well in a fast-moving environment and takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously.
- Experience in event management or the arts sector would be considered assets.
**Additional Qualifications Required**:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week,
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada, and one that meets at least 1 of the following criteria:
- Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
- Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
- Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
- Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
**Remuneration**:
$688 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $21.50 based on 4 days/32 hours).

Pay: $21.50 per hour
