**Packaging Equipment Technician and General Maintenance**

We are currently looking for a packaging equipment technician to oversee all flow wrapper operations from start to end of shift, trouble shoot equipment issues and perform monthly PMs. Our packaging equipment include: vertical and horizontal flow wrappers, band sealers, pouch fillers, scales, metal detectors, rotary tables, food cutters.

You will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the packaging to meet company standards and objectives. You will train and supervise operators at the start of each run, during the run as well as during changeover.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Follow GMP rules and perform proper sanitation practices prior to each product packaging run.
- Assist in new product set up on vertical and horizontal flow wrappers and train supervisors and operators.
- Commission new packaging equipment and make adjustments and modifications to equipment to improve performance and efficiency.
- Perform weekly PM on all packaging equipment and bakery equipment conveyor belts.
- Determine what parts are needed for packaging equipment, source the parts and arrange for pick up.
- May be required to drive to local shops to pick up parts for emergencies.
- Lubricate oven rack casters.
- Spend time on the production floor all day and troubleshoot all packaging equipment and metal detector issues.
- Make a list of recommended spare parts based on machine downtime trends.
- Develop and maintain a database of unique product set-up sheets for each packaging equipment to create a manual for operators.
- Notify Management of any packaging quality issues and course of action is recommended.
- Ensure products are wrapped properly with proper seal, clear lot print, proper film length and film print positioning.
- Lead the Sanitation Team on monthly deep cleaning of all packaging equipment.
- Must be willing to work weekends occasionally.
- Other duties as assigned. Examples include checking automatic freezer doors, dock doors, and double doors. Checking sinks and plumbing components for leaks to determine if a plumber needs to be called.

**Qualifications**
- At least one year experience in a food manufacturing facility required.
- Five years of experience with horizontal and vertical flow wrappers as well as other packaging equipment such as pouchers and shrink wrappers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and time management.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook
- Must be a quick learner and be able to handle competing priorities.
- Must be efficient, organized, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Allergen Control Program is an asset.
- Position involves being on production floor on your feet all day.
- During emergencies, it is expected to stay past shift’s end if necessary, to complete a task.

**Full time, Hourly**

**8am to 5 pm**

**Occasional weekend for special projects.**
