The Sustainability Specialist position is an integral part of Triovest’s Sustainability & Innovation team. The primary function of this position is to support properties in their pursuit of Green Building Certifications, including BOMA BEST, LEED, Fitwel, WELL, BOMA 360, and Zero Carbon Building Standard. The Specialist will be responsible for creating ESG policies, gathering supporting documentation, creating Feasibility Studies, completing Green Building Certifications, and acting as a liaison between Green Certifying Bodies (ex. BOMA Canada, CaGBC) and the properties.

**WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?**

**Technical Knowledge & Skills**
- Create feasibility studies outlining the potential certification level each property may be able to achieve based on current performance. Feasibility studies will include:

- A high-level estimated level of effort (low, medium, or high) and budget range
$15k) to pursue additional points or credits to achieve a property’s desired certification level.
- Outline next steps, including clear identification of roles and responsibilities and requirements for pursuing additional points or credits.
- The creation of policies and procedures, that are customized to each property, for them to achieve their certifications.
- Gathering supporting documentation, and presenting them in an easy-to-read format, that will be used to support Green Building Certification.
- Create an organized file system to store all documentation for each Green Certification.
- Upload all documentation to relevant Green Certification portals.
- Arrange on-site verifications, where necessary, for property teams.
- Prepare property teams for what to expect for their upcoming verifications and provide them with an organized digital folder that the verifier will be able to refer too during their verification.
- Address any comments or questions that the reviewing committee may have and, if necessary, appeal any objections with their assessments.
- Project manage multiple certifications and minimize requests made to property teams.
- Frequently update the Sustainability Green Certification database.
- Support employee training and awareness program efforts to educate employees on Green Certifications and their benefits.
- Engage in partnerships with key tenants, community stakeholders, and other private sector partners to share knowledge, and implement strategic sustainability goals.

**WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**

**To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, building science, environmental science or studies, architecture, business with sustainability, or related field. A master’s degree in a sustainability related field is an asset (i.e. Green Energy or Sustainability Management).
- Minimum 1-2 years related experience in sustainability, project management, data/analytics, and communications.
- A strong background in sustainability project management in the commercial real estate space.
- Familiarity with global Green Building Certification programs such as BOMA BEST, LEED Net Zero Standard, WELL, Fitwel is a must.
- Professional designations such as LEED AP, Fitwel Ambassador, WELL AP are considered an asset but are not required.
- Knowledge of sustainability data management systems (eg. EPL Stream, Energy Star Portfolio Manager) are an asset but are not required.
