Field Safety Supervisor

**Position Overview**
Reporting to the Safety Manager, this is an incredible opportunity for an experienced CSO to take the next step in their career as a Field Safety Supervisor. This role provides a combination of safety oversight duties as well as being on-site and ensuring all daily activities are in compliance with local provincial acts, regulations, codes, and Beedie's Health & Safety Program.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist the Safety Manager with updating, maintaining and implementing the Beedie Health and Safety Program
- Assist in the development of project specific safety programs, procedures and related documentation for ongoing and new projects
- Participate in pre-construction safety meetings and pre-job hazard assessments
- Conduct ongoing formal worksite safety inspections. Ensure any/all corrective actions arising from the inspections have been completed within a timely manner
- Assist the Safety Manager and project site personnel in conducting worksite incident/accident investigations.
- Communicate regularly with Superintendents and Site Safety Personnel in determining site safety needs and to act as a technical safety resource
- Liaise with regulatory authorities at the site level to promote safety and assist to resolve any issues of non-compliance
- Ensure appropriate levels of safety supplies and appropriate PPE are available on site at all times
- Provide input on the performance and professional development of incumbent safety personnel
- Provide assistance with the management of injured workers claims and return-to-work programs
- Coordinate Beedie’s Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Assist the Safety Manager with obtaining and maintaining all appropriate safety certifications, such as the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.
- Work with the Safety Manager to develop location specific H&S programs and procedures and conduct education and training for Beedie employees in relation to health and safety topics
- Monitor and track HSE compliance, performance, efficiency and trends in order to make recommendations based on findings to senior management
- Collect all HSE statistical information required to meet Beedie’s monthly, quarterly or annual reporting requirements
- Ensure project safety files have been completed, filed and archived as per Beedie’s project filing and archiving process
**Desired Skills and Experience**
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques and equipment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all personnel and Beedie business matters
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
- Proven self-starter with the ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Proven interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel throughout the Lower Mainland of BC as required
- Ability to physically traverse uneven ground, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have valid driver’s license
