We are a family living in Oshawa, looking for a personable, positive, thoughtful and flexible Support Assistant to assist our two teenage twins in getting ready for school for an hour every weekday morning, as well as engage them in meaningful ways for three hours in the evening during the week. Our children are ready to learn new things and we’re looking for someone to support them in expanding communication, exploring interests, and assisting with personal care while encouraging them and listening deeply so that they guide the energy flow of each evening.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Bathe and assist both teens in dressing and preparing for school each morning
- Organize and plan your dedicated time with our two children in the evenings in ways that are congruent with their interests
- Assist both of them with feeding
- Keep time together interesting to encourage engagement in activities
- Reinforce communication, learning, and growth by acknowledging non-verbal cues
- Recognize signs of distress to encourage self-regulation and maintain safety
- Perform activities of daily living and implement strategies that promote mastery of personal care
- Maintain environmental health & safety
- Housekeeping/cleaning as required to ensure environment remains hygienic
- Contribute toward maintaining a positive environment that encourages progress by working effectively with our family

**Key Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a support worker
- Previous experience providing personal care and working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Valid G driver’s license

**Required Availability**:

- 7:15 - 8:30a (Mon-Fri)
- 5:00 - 8:00p (Mon-Fri)

**Rate of Pay**: $23/hr

This is not an employment position of Durham Family Resources. This is a self-employed independent Support Worker role working directly with the family. Scheduling, guidance, and orientation are done in partnership with the family and the independent contractor. Commitment to a weekly schedule is required.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 21 per week

**Salary**: $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
