We are seeking a Supplier Quality Specialist to join our Corporate Quality group. You will be the voice of the customer and advocate for the company during the design, build and integration phases of customized equipment.

What you’ll get to do
Participate in supplier evaluation, qualification and development process and provide input to manage risks related to the suppliers
Provide training & feedback to suppliers and lead the effort to implement steps to continuously improve supplier performance
Conduct supplier audits, monitor and report on quality performance and capabilities & communicate the results to the suppliers & Valiant TMS internal customers
Monitor purchase order releases and manufacturing priorities and follow-up with suppliers, ensuring technical specifications are available and suppliers build equipment per requirements
Coordinate with project management, procurement and manufacturing to ensure supplier provides quality product based on timing constraints and project requirements
Coordinate with engineering departments on possible supplier proposed design changes, ensure deviations are documented and approved
Support buy-off activities for outsourced services, processes, materials, parts and other commodities
Collect qualitative & quantitative supplier information & data, prepare reports focusing on compliance, conformance and effectiveness of the operations for potential and existing suppliers
Manage all supplier-related Non-Conformances (NCRs) for all outsourced services, processes, materials, parts and other commodities, coordinate effective resolutions for all supplier-related NCRs
Collect information to determine potential root causes, issue supplier corrective actions and/or 8Ds, and participate in and report on the progress and effectiveness of the supplier corrective actions and continuous improvements tasks
Coordinate supplier returns/repairs, including shipping requests for items returning for rework, track status of returns, determine supplier cost of quality, cost recovery and/or cost avoidance
Maintain & improve supplier directory information, generate supplier scorecards, maintain and report on supplier quality dashboard
Ensure job-related open purchase orders are on schedule as per system assembly requirements and report any variances to the schedule to the project manager and to purchasing
What you bring
Knowledge of print reading, GD&T, special processes, and print notes related to custom machine & tooling industry
Familiar with welding and machining best practices
Familiar with quality and continuous improvement tools
Familiar with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to travel to supplier locations and Valiant TMS facilities, mostly within Canada and the USA
Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, and the ability to coordinate teams across cross-functional disciplines
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
