**INTAKE AND FAMILY SUPPORT COUNSELLOR (30hrs/wk)**

As part of the Bravestone Centre Counselling Services team, this position is responsible for all aspects of intake and assessment of prospective clients (women and their children) from initial contact through admission. This includes interaction with referral sources and working with larger systems in coordinating supports. Position provides supports to new families and facilitates move in and orientation. Responsible for completion of all intake and referral documentation, including statistical records as well as inventory management of residential component, food bank program, donations and related support programs and activities.

The Intake and Family Support Counsellor must have knowledge of human behaviour and development, the social and economic system, the Social Service System, the factors that contribute to normal development and knowledge of women and children’s issues especially as these issues relate to child and spousal victimization. They must be skilled from a trauma informed perspective in interviewing, assessment, and use of social resources.

- Minimum of undergraduate degree in relevant field (Psych, BSW) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Counselling experience working with women dealing with family violence, abuse, and trauma
- Proven case management skills

- Sensitivity in dealing with women and children in crisis
- Ability to relate to women from diverse classes, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of community resources.

Start Date: June 17, 2025

Salary range: $27.00 to $29.00/hr - 30 hours a week

Position is Monday to Friday 9am-4:00pm

Pay: $27.00-$29.00 per hour
