**Shokunin is now hiring a full-time yakitori sous chef If hired, you would be responsible for the grill station, cooking at the grill, and maintaining cleanliness of the grill. As a yakitori sous chef you would be expected to be responsible for your station and team to the highest standard.**

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Hourly: $18-20/hour based on experience.

Benefits: discussed after passing probationary period.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Grilling a variety of meat and vegetables over charcoal
- Must be able to multitask and cook up to 30 different cuts at one time
- Overseeing the cleanliness and hygiene of stations
- Managing food preparation activities (e.g. butchering meat, preparing sauces, etc.)
- Understanding of different cuts of meats, wagyu beef, and grilling of various vegetables
- Must understand the importance of proper seasoning
- Ensuring proper equipment operations/maintenance
- Ensuring that food is consistently prepared in accordance to the highest quality standard
- Training and managing other kitchen personnel as required
- Performing other duties as assigned and consistent with the position
- Drive to improve skills with Japanese Bichotan charcoal
- Work under pressure, multi-task, attention to detail, work until midnight
- Driven to succeed and put out best food in accordance to the highest standard
- Expected to be able to prepare kobe beef, 30 cuts of chicken, and increase knowledge of butchery
- Must be able to work late: 5 days a week, hour from 4pm - midnight

APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS:

- Must have a love for grilled meats and butchery
- 2-5 years of grilling experience at any capacity
- Adequate knowledge of some Japanese and Asian cooking styles
- Completion of a culinary diploma is an asset
- Must possess own knives
- Interest in learning Japanese and Asian cuisine

Completion of a culinary program is considered an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekend availability
