**Regulatory Affairs/ QA Associate**

**Position Overview**

The **Regulatory Affairs / QA Associate**plays a central role in ensuring all products manufactured, packed, or distributed by SCS meet stringent food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This role supports both Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs activities, with a strong focus on food labeling development / compliance for both US & CA, supplier qualification, specification development, documentation, and certification programs across Canada, the U.S., and international markets.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop/ Review and approve product labels and packaging for compliance with:

- Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations (FDR) & SFCR (Safe Food for Canadians Regulations), U.S. FDA 21 CFR regulations, USDA-FSIS guidelines and Claims regulations _
- Develop and verify Nutrition Facts Tables for Canadian and U.S. markets.
- Ensure accuracy of ingredient declarations, allergens, and nutrient content claims.
- Manage and maintain regulatory documentation including technical data sheets, supplier specifications, CoAs, and certification records.
- Monitor updates from regulatory authorities (CFIA, FDA, USDA, NOP) and implement changes as required.
- Lead and maintain the Supplier Approval Program.
- Collect and review supplier documentation (e.g., GFSI certifications, HACCP plans, allergen statements, product specifications).
- Maintain approved supplier lists and ensure documentation is up to date.
- Investigate and track supplier non-conformances and manage follow-ups.
- Ensure compliance with the label and specification -regulations (CA & US)
- Maintain and support the label control program / updates with the printer / designer
- Coordinate with certifying bodies / Customer for update and portal maintenance.
- Prepare and manage documentation for CFIA export certificates, USDA documentation, and FDA Prior Notices.
- Coordinate international shipments and ensure foreign labeling, certifications, and specifications meet importing country requirements.
- Support global customer regulatory inquiries and documentation needs.
- verify and assist in creating commercialization documents like our NPD/Gold Standard Specification, Step by step, Finished Specification and Formula Verification

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Nutrition, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs in the food manufacturing or processing industry.
- Strong understanding of:

- CFIA, FDA, FSMA, USDA-FSIS, GENESIS/ FLAVOUR STUDIOS ( or Equivalent)_
- HACCP, GMPs, GFSI standards (SQF/BRC)_
- Canadian and U.S. food labeling and packaging regulations_
- Hands-on experience with:

- Label compliance and Nutrition Facts Table creation/ maintenance _
- Supplier approval documentation / requirements _
- Claims / _
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- HACCP Certification (recognized by CFIA or FDA)
- Label Regulation training / Certification
- PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual)
- SQF or BRC Practitioner Certification
- Excellent Experience in analyzing and developing specifications needed for making compliant labels for US & CA
