**Job Posting - Music and Special Events Assistant**

**Special Events**:
The Music and Special Events Assistant’s main role will be coordinating details for the Port Perry BIA’s fall Street Dance and the holiday lighting program. The Street Dance takes place on Saturday, September 24th. Some weekend work is required. Duties will include:
**Street Dance and Culture Days**:
Assisting the Marketing and Events Coordinator with all details related to the Songs of the Summer program (July to mid-September) and the Street Dance (September 24).
- Working with musicians
- Coordinating sound, stage and lighting
- Assisting with other event details, e.g. family activities, beer/cider garden, security, logistics
- Coordinating and scheduling volunteers
- Liasing with business members of the BIA as well as community groups
- Working with the Scugog Council for the Arts to coordinate same-day activities related to Culture Days
- Attending planning meetings
- Assisting with follow-up and evaluation

**Holiday Lighting**:
You will assist the BIA board and volunteers with organizing the enhanced holiday lighting program.
- Liaising with member businesses
- Working with lighting providers to coordinate installation of lighting

**Marketing**:
In addition to working on event planning and logistics, the Music and Special Event Assistant will contribute to marketing the music program, the Street Dance and the lighting program. This will include content for the website, blog, member newsletter and social media channels, some photography and preparing of media releases.

**General Duties**:
Other duties related to the running of the Tourism and Visitor Centre may be assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience related to live music events
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, web content
- Excellent communications and project management skills

**Wage**:
This is a part-time contract position for 20 hours per at $17 per hour (19 weeks). Funding for this position has been provided by Central Counties Tourism.

**Salary**: $17.00 per hour
