**Deputy Chief Executive Officer**

The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is a community-focused, single-branch Library serving a diverse population of 42,800. The community includes urban and rural areas with most of the population centered in town, which is on the edge of the GTA and adjacent to the Holland Marsh. Easily accessible from Highways 400, 27 and 11, Bradford is a growing community with an increasing demand for library services.

Reporting to the Library CEO this role contributes to the development and implementation of effective, efficient services, acts as a representative for BWG Public Library and advocates on behalf of the Library. This position oversees Collection Development, Technical services, IT Services, and daily facility operations.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the CEO in their absence.
- Works collaboratively with the CEO and Board to develop and implement the Library’s strategic plan.
- Provides administrative support in the form of research, reports, and proposals. Drafts, implements, and reviews policies and procedures.
- Evaluates and reports on library performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.
- Participates in collective bargaining negotiations, grievance and dispute resolution processes and ensures employees are working within the provisions of the Collective Agreement
- Responsible for curating, managing, and maintaining the Library's collection of resources. Evaluates, selects, and acquires materials such as books, digital resources, and other media.
- Manages the expenditure of the collection development budget and negotiates contracts for materials with external providers.
- Oversees acquisitions and technical services to ensure that collection materials are properly processed, cataloged, classified, and accessible to library users.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations and security of the facility, and coordinates with town facilities to address mechanical, maintenance and safety issues.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Library’s technology plan including managing the IT budgets and making recommendations on technology changes.
- Works with ILS providers to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot the Library’s Integrated Library Systems.
- Receives, investigates and acts upon comments, complaints and challenges, involving senior staff as required.
- Works with the CEO and the management team to develop and implement staff training strategies including orientation, statutory required training, and career development opportunities.
- Researches grant opportunities and alternative funding sources.
- Represents the Library in public forums, community events, and professional organizations.

**Key Competencies and Qualifications**
- Masters in Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) from an ALA accredited program.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive Library as a senior manager in a unionized public library combined with experience working with boards and elected officials.
- Proven collection development and management skills.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of technology and its uses/opportunities in a library environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of various relevant Federal and Provincial statutes and regulations including the Ontario Public Libraries Act, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Personal Privacy Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Copyright Act
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships and maintain diplomacy and integrity.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.

The position offers a salary range of $96,731 to $117,577 (2025 rates) based on a 35-hour workweek plus a competitive benefit package. This position includes days, evenings, and weekend shifts as part of a regular schedule.
