Junior Plumbing Estimator/administrative Assistant

We are a respected plumbing company that provides quality work and professionalism to its valued residential, commercial, and industrial customers. With our head office located in Vaughan, we service the greater part of the GTA. We are a union company and are experiencing exponential growth. We are currently looking to add a part-time **Junior Plumbing Estimator/Administrative Assistant** to our team that will assist our Senior Estimator. **Job Summary**: This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting their career who is willing to learn and grow with a great company or for someone who enjoys the responsibilities of working in a busy construction office. This is a part-time opportunity, with the potential to grow into a full-time role. This position will work alongside the owner and project managers and provide support on appropriately evaluating the cost of projects and provide ongoing support throughout the bidding process. You will prepare documents, manage supplies ordered for each job, maintain pricing of subcontractors, and submit tender prices for various projects of all sizes and scope on both the commercial and residential side. **Responsibilities and Duties**: - Comfortable working with technology and learning new systems. - Prepare review and submit Bid Documents to ensure all bid requirements are met. - Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. - Prepare takeoffs using drawings and documents that may be less than 100% complete. - Provide detailed labour breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of project. - Prepares budgets for prospective projects and assist with the planning and budget process. - Attend and participate in site-visits, pre-bid meeting and post-bid meeting as required. - Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is received. - Review final cost report and develop for historical information. **Qualifications**: - Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technology field or industry certification including "Certified Quantity Surveyor" and "Certified Construction Estimator." - 1-3 years with practical and successful experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects within a field or office setting. - Applicable trade experience will be considered and highly desirable. - Works effectively in team environment - Strong understanding of specifications, construction methods and procedures - Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and multi-tasking to prioritize workload and stay on top of project demands. - Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged. - Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, associated documentation, contracts, cost coding systems and work breakdown structures. - Excellent organizational and decision making/problem solving skills. - Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Accubid/Trimble Estimating Software and AutoCAD **Rate of Pay**:Knowledge of the trade, experience, and performance influence the starting rate of pay that can range from $17-$20 plus vacation pay **Additional Benefits**: - Employee medical and dental plan (Employer pays half) - RRSP Plan (3% Employer Contribution) **Job Type**: Part-time **Salary**: From $17.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Company events - Dental care - Extended health care - RRSP match Schedule: - Day shift Ability to commute/relocate: - Woodbridge, ON L4L 6E3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) **Education**: - AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred) **Experience**: - mechanical or construction technology: 2 years (preferred) - Accubid/Trimble Estimating Software and AutoCAD: 1 year (preferred) Licence/Certification: - Certified Quantity Surveyor/Certified Construction Estimator (preferred) Work Location: In person
