The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The AEMA is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property, and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized “system” for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse system.

**Role Responsibilities**:
In this highly specialized position, you will focus on the preparation pillar of emergency management-designing, delivering, and refining collective training for Alberta’s All-Hazards Incident Management Teams (AHIMTs). Your work will directly contribute to strengthening Alberta’s coordinated emergency response network. In addition to your training expertise, you will also serve in the traditional Field Officer capacity, providing on-the-ground advice, support, and coordination during emergencies, ensuring Alberta’s communities remain ready and resilient.

You will be responsible for:

- Developing and delivering progressive, scenario-based training for incident management teams and emergency coordination centres.
- Creating individual training packages to prepare personnel for collective training activities.
- Designing and running large-scale collective training exercises to build team capacity.
- Conducting post-exercise reviews and integrating lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Leading or supporting All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) accreditation processes across the province.
- Strengthening integration between local/regional incident management teams and the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre.
- Providing expert guidance and mentorship to municipal, First Nation, and Métis Settlement emergency management staff.
- Assisting with community emergency plan development, review, and exercises.
- Deploying to affected communities during emergencies to provide operational support and coordination.
- Liaising with diverse stakeholders to promote best practices in emergency management.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**: University education in a related field PLUS 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

For Example:
Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 7 years of experience.
Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 6 years of experience.
Related minimum 8 years of experience.
- Experience with program development and delivery to large audiences.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) and ability to provide a clear Proven expertise in developing and delivering group-based training in emergency management or a related field.
- Experience working in a leadership and decision-making role either in a public or private setting, in a field involving operational and tactical level emergency management.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audience’s driver abstract.
- Ability to travel with short notice for extended periods of time (i.e. be deployed to support an incident). Additionally, you must be able to work non-standard hours for extended periods of time (i.e. weekends, evenings, nights, holidays etc. at time of incident).

- Incident Command System (ICS) 400 qualified; or able to achieve qualification within one-year of assuming position.
