As the Materials Inspector, you play a crucial role in our product quality control ensuring incoming materials meet the required standards. With your keen eye for detail, you’ll inspect received materials, record and maintain results, identify defects, and collaborate with project teams to address issues. You will bring a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical fabrication method, engineering drafting standards, and quality processes to the role. You’ll continually explore innovative ways to optimize inspection processes and enhance product quality assurance.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensure raw materials and finished products meet specifications through meticulous examination and precise measurement tools. Read and interpret detailed documentation such as engineering drawings and specifications. Ensure associated documentation is accurate and meets contractual requirements
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, noting deviations or defects found to ensure traceability and quality control.
- Communicate identified defects promptly to supervisors and collaborate on corrective actions for timely resolution.
- Develop and enforce effective protocols to optimize inspection processes and enhance product quality assurance.
- Working as part of a skilled interdisciplinary team to resolve incoming material issues, working with materials, engineering, manufacturing and quality representatives.
- Record actions taken by completing production and quality forms in accordance with ISO9001 requirements.
- Identify products or parts that do not meet quality standards and follow quarantine procedures as required.
- Maintain company calibration and certification system for key equipment such as calibrated test equipment and lifting gear.
- Maintain a clean, hazard free workstation by cleaning and maintain equipment, tidying inspection areas and complying with health and safety procedures, rules and regulations.
- Assist with other Materials functional teams (receiving door coverage, cycle counts etc. as required).

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Machining or Technician programs.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in an inspection, materials, and/or quality environment.
- Proficient computer literacy skills for technical document maintenance and management.
- Experience in reading and understanding engineering documentation.
- Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS certification (or ability to obtain).
