Certain cities may be located in distant or remote areas in Ontario and may not be accessible by public transit. Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: **Work Description** As an Enforcement Assistant, you may have the opportunity to work on some or all of the following activities: - Assist officers and inspectors with the planning and organization of field activities, including routine field inspections of compliance, enforcement, promotion, inspection, and monitoring. - Aid with resource management through data collection, data entry, compliance reporting, mapping, and inspection. - Perform research, conduct analysis, and evaluate environmental information and data to produce reports. - You may also assist in aspects of marine enforcement, such as license, catch, and gear inspections, and participating in outreach activities. (e.g. social events involving the public, such as Sportsman and boat shows) **Note**: You may be required to operate boats, motors, ATVs, and other specialized equipment, and to work outdoors and in diverse weather conditions. **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: You must meet **all** eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July): - **Age**: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit. - ** Residency**: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment. - ** Work Status**: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the full duration of your summer employment. **Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: **Technical Skills and Knowledge**: **Analytical and Organizational Skills**: - You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize, and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlines. **Other Requirements**: - You are capable of performing manual activities, including lifting and carrying weighted items (in accordance with the Employment Standards Act and Workplace Health and Safety regulations). - You are willing to accompany staff on multi-day field trips. - Certain positions require that you possess an Ontario G2 (or higher) Driver's Licence or equivalent. - Certain positions require that you have a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card, Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or that you are willing and able to acquire these certifications as a condition of your employment. - Travel will be required to accompany staff on multi-day outdoor field trips to conduct checks to enforce safety legislation.
