Director of Care

We are is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial-minded Director of Care (DOC) to lead clinical operations at our client’s long-term care (LTC) facility. This leader will be responsible for overseeing nursing care, compliance, staff performance, and quality improvement initiatives while bringing a business-oriented approach to enhance efficiency and elevate patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Management
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of nursing and clinical care within the facility.
- Develop and implement innovative care models to enhance resident care and staff performance.
- Work collaboratively with the facility’s administration and interdisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery.
Entrepreneurial & Operational Growth
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovative care solutions to enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Support the financial sustainability of the facility by optimizing resources and managing budgets effectively.
- Implement strategic initiatives to improve workforce retention and recruitment efforts.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Ontario’s Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, and other relevant health regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, evaluations, and performance assessments to maintain and improve care standards.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that align with best practices in LTC settings.
Resident & Family-Centered Care
- Foster a culture of compassionate, person-centered care while promoting resident independence and dignity.
- Engage with residents and families to ensure their voices are heard and incorporated into care planning.
- Address concerns and implement solutions to improve the overall resident experience.
Team Development & Workforce Management
- Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of nurses and personal support workers (PSWs).
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability among staff.
- Develop leadership within the team to create a strong succession plan for sustainable care excellence.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in Ontario (CNO Registered).
- Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of LTC legislation, MOHLTC compliance requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and drive operational excellence.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing budgets and financial performance in a healthcare setting is an asset.
Pay: $55.00-$65.00 per hour
