Position: Director of Care

We are looking for a Director of Care (DOC) to join our team
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management initiatives related to resident care needs and the Home;
- Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level;
- Ability to meet budgetary goals (budget restraints);
- Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies;
- Collaboratively works with various members of the team to accomplish goals;
- Presents an active presence/mentoring staff and overseeing the provision of quality care;
- Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; works with WSIB claims and return to work plans (preferred);
- Able to initiate investigations/CIS’s/follow up with staff/families initiated to ensure risks are identified/addressed with interventions/documentation updated/ongoing diligence with Home/MOL is completed as per the regulations;
- Assumes responsibility for the nursing department;
- Is knowledgeable concerning the MOH Regulations and the FLTC Act.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors.
- Demonstrated experience with WSIB management and other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies is an asset.
- Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
- Developed creative problem solving skills to look at the “big picture”.
