**Job Description**:
- The Canadian Business Development and Market Access Manager is a key member of the Canadian leadership team and will help accelerate brand growth in Canada by expanding our brand penetration, reimbursement and creating patient access for the current and future portfolio. The overall remit of this role is to lead our hospital contracting efforts with existing and potential new hospitals, act as the key liaison with pricing authorities, payors, both public and private, Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO’s) and Health Technology Assessment bodies ( HTA’s) as well as defining and implementing pricing and market access strategies for product launches of Mallinckrodt’s portfolio according to our International Strategy.
- The Business Development and Market Access Manager will act as the expert on all topics around market access for MNK International in Canada. This includes managing of market access projects to achieve optimal patient access for products of MNK as well as proactive monitoring of any threats that could arise to access for the products in question.
- Essential Functions
- Help lead affiliate culture, strategy, and tactics as a member of the Canadian leadership team to enable employee engagement, customer experience excellence and achievement of financial results
- Lead Reimbursement and successful delivery of Market Access Projects for Therakos, INOmax and any other Hospital/Critical care products which may be added to the portfolio.
Support business expansion by:
Understanding the Canadian landscape
- Support the Senior Director Market Access in global launch planning, providing the Canada perspective for global launch and market access activities
- Assist in opportunity identification and business case creation for expansion of existing brands and potential new brands
- Monitor changes of the environment for patient access in Canada and work with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders to address these challenges
Articulating value for critical Canadian access stakeholders
- Work with appropriate internal stakeholders (HEOR, Medical, Marketing, Patient Advocacy, Government Relations, General Manager, Operations) to ensure a targeted payor value proposition exists for key assets
Executing Market Access projects across the therapeutic lifecycle
- Lead the development of submissions to Payors, HTA’s and Hospital formulary committees.
- Support life cycle management of all relevant current and future MNK assets by supporting continued reimbursement for key indications in Canada
- Establishing and leading projects to address payer reimbursement gaps
- Delivering projects to address HCP financial and organizational threats & barriers
- Developing and leveraging effective communication tools; economic and financial models; and transferring of skills in value selling to the sales team.
- Expand and optimize public and/or private reimbursement for our MNK brands
- Lead the process of opening new accounts in Canada for Therakos to expand access to ECP for Canadians
- Provide support to all of the above functions including administrative, meeting attendance/organization/summaries, contracting/payments, co-ordination of activities, introductions etc.
- As capabilities allow, assist in the planning and implementation of HCP learning programs - specifically logístical activities
- Contribute to the MNK International Business Planning process and ensure that project plans and budgets are aligned with the goals of the organization
Education / Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree. MBA or advanced degree desired but not required
- 3 years+ experience in Market Access (Devices experience an asset)
- Deep Understanding of Canadas Hospital reimbursement processes, payer and pull through expertise
- Demonstrated success achieving Product Listing agreements (PLA’s) negotiating with Hospital buying groups and Provincial Cancer Organizations
- Experience with medical devices and Pharmaceuticals strongly preferred
- Experience in working with and presenting complex Health Economic issues and concepts to internal stakeholders (management, peers, global) and external (payors, HTA organizations, Key opinion Leaders (KOLs))
- Proven track record of successfully managing HTA processes, ideally over more than one jurisdiction
- Proven ability to shape local market access strategies and manage cross functional product teams successfully
- Fluent in English and French (strongly preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think and plan strategically aligned with capability to implement/execute
- Experienced in leading teams without direct line authority, successfully delivering objectives to time and budget
