**Position Purpose**:
Responsible for identifying and leading the development and delivery of initiatives to support the activities of the Corporate Strategic Plan and the action items as outlined in the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy. Working as a team member, the position will be responsible for supporting Investment Attraction, Business Retention and Expansion, Tourism Development and Downtown Revitalization efforts.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Three (3) year post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent in culture/tourism development, community/business development, planning, marketing or a field related to Economic Development from an accredited College or University. Two (2) years’ progressive experience in community economic development or cultural/tourism development preferably in a municipal setting and/or in fast paced business environment with competing priorities and extensive customer service. _**For full details, please see attached job descriptions.**_

**PRIMARY FUNCTION**:
Responsible for identifying and leading the development and delivery of initiatives to support the activities of the Corporate Strategic Plan and the action items as outlined in the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy. Working as a team member, the position will be responsible for supporting Investment Attraction, Business Retention and Expansion, Tourism Development and Downtown Revitalization efforts.

Summer Contract Students/Central Counties Tourism Board, Chamber of Commerce Board

**INDIRECT**:
Provides direction and assigns tasks to the Executive Assistant to the Director of Strategic Initiatives

**WORKING PROCEDURES**:

- Coordinates site tours, undertakes business visits and attends trades shows in order to promote investment in the Town.
- Researches new and emerging trends specific to Economic Development initiatives and makes recommendations for improvements in order to enhance economic activity in the Town.
- Acts as a liaison between local organizations and businesses and the Town.
- Develops, promotes, monitors and reports to Council on the Economic, Culture and Events Grant Program.
- Works to support and implement activities to create an awareness/strengthening of Georgina’s Brand as a place to live, work, play and invest.
- Attends community events and organizes special events to heighten the Town’s presence and build relationships.
- Provide administrative support in the undertaking of various projects intended to support the local economy and investment attraction efforts.
- Researches the data to support grant submissions to external agencies that support Economic Development and Tourism initiatives in the Town of Georgina.
- Prepares written responses to inquiries, correspondence and reports related to investment in the Town of Georgina.
- Maintains Town’s database of photos, images specific to Economic Development and Tourism. Takes photos and/or hires photographers/videographers when necessary.
- Maintains a contact list/data base of stakeholders, businesses, agencies and other pertinent information as required by the Economic and Tourism Development Division.
- Partners with other levels of government on initiatives that support the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy (York Region, Invest Ontario, Toronto Global).
- Maintains effective and co-operative liaison with representatives of other municipalities, federal and provincial departments, ministries and agencies, business community, investors, etc.
- Deals with the public in a courteous and efficient manner to promote a high standard of public relations at all times.
