POSITION:
National Communications Specialist

DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the National Manager, Talent Management and Communication, the National Communications Specialist will provide expertise on as well as execute the internal communication strategy and associated processes, plans, and media content for Sleeman with the intent to inform and engage our employees. This role is also responsible for employer branding, recruitment marketing, as well as external communications as it relates to Sleeman as an employer and organization. This is a hybrid position with flexibility to work at home as well as in office.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the development and execution of corporate internal communications, including new programs, policies, initiatives, announcements and changes, while also incorporating and promoting the company’s Employer Value Proposition (EVP) in all messaging- Develop communication plans, timelines, and deliverables that support news, announcements and other messages internally to our employee population, helping to drive engagement and deliver results-
- Develop and manage both national and regional communication content for various systems, including landing page in Workday, COOLER home page and HR page-
- Gather articles, anecdotes, photos or illustrations to be used in company communications; take pictures or videos at company events, team meetings, and other functions nationally to support communications.- Responsible for ensuring alignment between Sleeman brands, corporate communication and our EVP; Investigate opportunities to leverage synergies between same.- Work closely with Marketing, Community Relations and Government Relations to find opportunities to share our external activities and initiatives with relevant employee groups.- Provide communication support around crisis management- Lead the participation in annual Canadian top employer competitions- Partner with external vendors to help support social and digital content as need be- Provide recommendations on creative story ideas and video concepts- Manage ownership of the Sleeman Breweries Corporate Website, keeping information and message up to date and relevant. Continue to build on and weave in Sleeman EVP into messaging and images.- Manage ownership content of corporate social media pages in alignment with strategic plan, mission/vision and employee value proposition-
- Monitor social and news environment and work to leverage any news opportunities or mitigate and negative public relations- Compile media and event analytic reports for management, measuring success against these metrics and implementing remedial actions as required- Implement and facilitate the dissemination of communication best practices within the organization- Lead and or provide support for creating all press releases across the company.

**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field- 5+ years of communications and marketing experience in a corporate role- Excellent writing, editing, proof reading and verbal communication skills- Media relations or crisis management background would be considered a strong asset- Strong understanding of managing discretion and confidential matters- Experience in the development and execution of social media and digital strategies is required- Strong understanding of different target audiences and the ability to adapt communication strategies accordingly- Program/project management experience would be considered a strong asset- Ability to exercise high judgement and persuasion, particularly with tight deadlines- Experience developing communication strategies and content for a multiple locations workforce- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple and often competi
