**JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the director, Oncology, the Project Manager will lead and support project management activities associated with Quality Improvement, Clinical Process Optimization and Service Expansion. This position will use project management knowledge and competencies to manage projects through all phases of the project lifecycle including initiation, planning, monitor and controlling, execution and closing to achieve organizational priorities.
**RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads oncology projects associated with quality and process improvement goals, health information system improvements, corporate and clinical strategic objectives and other innovative initiatives, which support the overall health and wellness of our patients, staff, and community
- Oversee all aspects of their assigned projects including charter development, planning, scheduling, and implementing, monitoring, evaluating and project closeout activities.
- Provide regular status updates for required deliverables and project milestones to senior management and stakeholder groups, managing their involvement and expectations.
- Conduct regular assessments of project risk, and propose mitigation strategies for consideration.
- Work with members of the clinical teams, support services, and IT operational team to define project scope and identify outcomes associated with project success.
- Supports the building of program quality improvement capacity and efficiency through facilitating and mentoring staff and leaders in the use of project management and quality improvement tools and methodologies
- Develops gap analysis and provides process improvement expertise.
- Under direction from leadership, plans, coordinates and monitors activities to ensure that they meet the approved timeframe, scope, quality and budget expectations
- Establish, develop and maintain effective communications strategies with internal and external stakeholders
- Provides leadership to the project team regarding project management methodology and best practices (i.e. “owns” the project).
- Coordinates project documentation repositories.
- Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the role, as assigned or requested.
**QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in health sciences or a health related field or equivalent work experience is required
- Five (5) years of project management experience leading medium to large scale healthcare projects is required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal project management training required
- Formal training (certification preferred) in improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, IHI Model for Improvement).
- Demonstrated skills in developing project evaluation frameworks/measurement plans and data analysis.
- Project management experience in an Oncology setting is an asset
- Experience within the healthcare sector as is relates to hospital information systems (HIS) is an asset.
- A comfort with technology and innovation, through education or experience, is an asset, out-of-the-box thinking, learning mindset
- Demonstrated ability to engage a variety of stakeholders and develop relationships
- Demonstrated change management skills (consulting, negotiating, strategic thinking).
- Proven ability to work effectively on multiple related projects and meet competing deadlines
- Ability to balance individual’s accountabilities while working in a team environment.
- Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication and facilitation skills
- Excellent conflict management, problem solving, and sound judgment abilities
- High level of initiative, decisiveness and business acumen
- Demonstrated strong leadership and motivational skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MS Visio and SharePoint
- Excellent attendance record
