_Schooner Transport_ requires a qualified, full-time **Logistics Coordinator & Dispatcher** to align & schedule the movement & loading of, monitor & provide assistance as necessary to our tractor-trailer drivers operating a fleet of large highway bulk liquid tankers (ethanol, diesel, gasoline & asphalt). Our clients are located throughout Ontario & Quebec. We are looking for the _right_ person who wants to make "dispatching & logistics management" a career, someone who enjoys solving logístical puzzles, is always respectful & courteous to customers, colleagues, drivers & mechanics, and understands that getting the job done regardless of any challenges faced is one's primary responsibility. Working as one member of a two-person team, the _Logistics Coordinator / Dispatcher _will plan and execute the day-to-day activities of our drivers. The two-person dispatching team covers between 12 to 16 hours in a day; - how that time period is covered is developed by the dispatching team itself and authorized by the Operations Manager. Typically a shift involves scheduling deliveries a day or more in advance, determining what products are to be loaded into the various compartments within each tanker, coordinating with the equipment maintenance team to ensure equipment is ready & available, being mindful of individual driver’s working days & hours of service and (of course) assigning work; - the loading & delivery of fuel and asphalt products to clients. Responsibilities also include near real-time monitoring of the fleet (using various technologies including satellite tracking), accurately updating & distributing information to our drivers as needed. Again, the _Logistics Coordinator_ / _Dispatcher_ must be very well organized, be able to proactively solve problems, be an excellent communicator, thrive in a ‘team’ environment, and always keep in mind the company’s promise to its clients of on-time delivery. **Specific responsibilities include**: - Track customer's product levels (ethanol, gas, diesel & asphalt) and provide outstanding service primarily through the on-time loading & delivery of products by optimizing the use of the company's tractors & tankers. - Proactively & creatively solve problems as they arise - Proactively manage a positive working relationship with our drivers & maintenance personnel - Perform data entry and verify that loads / trips assigned to drivers are accurately recorded in the company's dispatch system (_Dispatch Mate_) - Review and approve ‘wait-times’ (drivers waiting longer than standard to load at a terminal) - Effectively leads the drivers by setting an example in behavior, values & duties - Enforce all company rules, policies & procedures related to employee and client conduct - Visibly demonstrate a commitment to ‘safety’ by stringently following all safety & health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such - Assist other team members by providing additional support or coverage as needed (i.e. “work as a team”) - Compile reports for review by management - Perform various clerical and administrative duties as may be required **Reporting Structure**: - Reporting to the Operations Manager - Ideally, dedicated experience (**minimum** 2 years) providing dispatching / logístical support in the highway tractor-trailer / logistics industry. - This position requires an individual who is adaptable; self-motivated, results driven, is willing to step-up when needed and is a team player - ** Being **bilingual** (English & French) will be considered an important asset - ** Must be currently living in the greater Ottawa / Gatineau region - Strong organizational & planning skills, including a demonstrated attention to detail - Able to proactively solve problems with mínimal supervision - An excellent communicator with a keen sense of timeliness - Knowledge of the _Highway Traffic Act_ as it applies to highway tractor-trailers a definite asset. - Experience with _Dispatch Mate_ will be considered a definite asset - Proficient / competent using typical office & computer-based systems (Microsoft Office Suite) - ** Must already be able to work in Canada and currently living in the greater Ottawa / Gatineau region**: - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF NOT A CANADIAN CITIZEN OR LANDED IMMIGRANT OR ALREADY POSESSING A WORK PERMIT.
