Your role as an Optical Lab Technician is be a proactive member of the Lab facility team by ensuring that all Rx jobs are completed in an efficient and timely manner while meeting Centennial’s quality standards. You thrive when presented with a challenge and work well in a fast paced environment. You are open to learn new processes and systems within the optical laboratory business.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Responsible for all aspects of lab tasks, including, Lens Layout, Frame Tracing, Blocking Lenses, Operating computerized Edgers, mounting and inserting Lenses into Frames, checking completed jobs against work orders, performing bench alignments and quality controlling.
- Attentive to detail with all measurements, calculations, equipment settings and defective product.
- Ensure every work order has been completed according to the specifications outlined in the customer order by conducting a final inspection.
- Provide assistance to Lab team with technical questions and resolve problems and/or issues relating to job orders in process, etc.
- Assist in the distribution area, including processing customer orders (picking/billing/shipping and barcoding) as required.
- Make recommendations for problem resolution to the supervisor.

**Job Requirements**:

- Optical experience - minimum of 3 years
- Good Communication Skills
- Reading and using lens gauge and lensometer
- Ability to handle optical mathematics
- Working Knowledge of lenses and frames
- Attention to detail and accuracy a must
- Must be able to handle conflicting priorities on a daily basis
- Must be able to work well in a small team environment

**Other Requirements**:

- Technically minded individual with excellent computer skills
- Comfortable with light mechanics involving edging, mounting, etc.
- Periodic maintenance of Tanks for the Edgers
- Willing to back up staff in our Stamping Dept. if required

**Physical Demands**:

- Must have manual dexterity to use small hand tools
- May require long periods of standing, sitting, lifting, bending and focusing
