**Job Posting: Purchasing Manager - Food Production**

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join Sweets from the Earth. As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our procurement activities related to food production. This is a key leadership role that plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of ingredients, supplies, and equipment needed for our production processes.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans specific to food production requirements.
- Source ingredients according to specifications provided by the R&D team and in accordance with budgetary requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers of food ingredients, and packaging materials.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Optimize costs through effective negotiation, volume discounts, and strategic sourcing practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Oversee inventory levels and control stock replenishment processes to prevent stockouts and minimize wastage.
- Manage cycle counts and ensure accuracy of data in ERP.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality and safety standards, by keeping supplier documents up to date and ensuring QA department has access to all required certificates.
- Monitor market trends, conduct market research, and evaluate potential new suppliers.
- Manage contracts and supply agreements, ensuring compliance and resolving any disputes.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the food supply chain, developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

**Requirements**:

- 7+ years of proven work experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar procurement role within the food production industry.
- In-depth knowledge of food sourcing, supplier management, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., HC, FDA, CFIA).
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with food safety and quality assurance standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
- Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
