The Digital Specialist plans and coordinates the redevelopment of peelregion.ca with a focus on delivering an exceptional digital experience for residents. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Supervisor, the Digital Specialist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists who support internal partners in communicating with various audiences about Regional programs and services and building trust and confidence with the public. This position contributes to the Advancing Digital Service Delivery project, creating effective, logical and user-friendly sites and navigation; conducting usability testing; and monitors and analyzes web statistics. This position contributes to building and maintaining positive relationships with internal partners through delivering high quality communications, managing timelines, and developing and presenting briefs.
**In this role you will be accountable for**:
- Providing consultation and advice to internal partners and Communications staff on the development of peelregion.ca, including information architecture, user experience, site functionality, technical design, accessibility guidelines, usability testing, web analytics and website trends
- Guiding internal partners and other staff through the phases of web redevelopment including project scoping and timelines management; development of site organization and navigation; content development and enhancement; site construction, testing and launch
- Working closely with internal partners and other staff to review and define website objectives, identify target audiences and analyze their needs and expectations
- Development of web governance guidelines and standards
- Conducting inventory of existing content; provides recommendations on defining the site’s content ideas and developing new content to meet the objectives of the site and the needs of target groups
- Leading usability, focus and user acceptance testing including plan development, analysis of test data and the development of reports with findings and recommendations
- Identifying opportunities to improve websites including overall quality of site design, organization, structure and functionality
- Monitoring and analyzing web traffic; generating reports to section staff and internal partners with statistical and quality web-related data
**Qualifications**:
- University degree or college diploma in a web-related field combined with a minimum of five to eight years of experience in website development, user experience design or information architecture or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of information architecture and web design principles
- In-depth knowledge of usability methodologies; certification in usability is an asset
- Excellent knowledge of accessibility for websites standards and solutions
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing practices and social media platforms
- Proficiency in web content management software (i.e. RedDot, WEM)
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Suite including Illustrator and Photoshop; Dreamweaver; HTML and JavaScript programming; Visio
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access and Microsoft Outlook
**Location**:In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
**Hours of Work***:35 hours per week; Monday to Friday
