We are hiring a full-time Food Service Manager to join our team at the Dining Hall on campus at Carleton University. This position reports into the Senior Food Service Manager and works with other Food Service Managers and in conjunction with the culinary team to oversee the day-to-day operation(s) for this location.

This position involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operation. The Food Service Manager is responsible for providing leadership to a team of supervisors and food service associates.

**About the Job**:

- Responsible for making sure the daily operation of the component is running smoothly with the understanding that there will be times when you’ll have to “jump in” and work within the component
- Implements and leads compliance on all Aramark operating standards and legislated standards within the component including company policy and procedure, health and safety standards and safe food handling
- Responsible for overseeing staff scheduling, tracks daily labour on schedule and reports to Food Service Director on a daily basis
- Works in conjunction with Sous-Chefs on culinary requirements for appropriate food handling, preparation and sanitation in respective areas
- Responsible for inventory controls, food, labour and direct costs
- Ensure quality, courteous service is provided to all customers including proper and accurate signage displayed for all items served
- Works with Human Resources to manage all hiring, staffing, labour, progressive discipline, accommodation, training and administration of HR policies and procedures
- Develops and motivates supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance
- Liaison with the Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions
- Monitor equipment repair and maintenance
- Ensure compliance with and adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures and Aramark's Health and Safety programs

**About You**:

- Diploma in Hospitality Management/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience
- Management experience in a unionized setting an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret financials
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- will involve some evenings and weekends
