- **Job Summary**_
The Food Services Manager is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and directing all aspects of kitchen operations, while maintaining high quality menu options and service levels at all Cornerstone locations with meal plans. The Food Services Manager is expected to schedule kitchen staff, maintain appropriate inventory, and supply levels, create and prepare menu items in an efficient manner. The Food Services Manager is further required to always ensure the safe and healthy preparation of meals and sanitation techniques to avoid cross-contamination and the spoiling of food and beverages.
- **Responsibilities**_
**Meal Planning & Preparation**
- Intake the lead in preparing menus through a collaborative process with the Food Service Coordinators ensuring meals are nutritious, cost-effective and meet the dietary needs of Service Users.
- Oversee all kitchen operations ensuring healthy and safe work practices.
- Ensures consistent quality across all Cornerstone food programs while respecting differences between programs and residents’ preferences.
- Establish, implement, and communicate menu recipe requirements.
- Create and post daily “Production Sheets” in all kitchens.
- Ensure the safe storage and disposal of food and beverages.
- Maintain accurate log of food and beverage waste.
- Coordinates and oversees the completion of any repairs or maintenance required for kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Enforces proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
- Ensures that documentation for all areas of responsibility is complete, accurate, reported, effectively communicated, and safely stored according to the organization’s protocols and meets the requirements of the local public health unit
**Inventory and Budget Management**
- Oversee inventory of food and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Maintain accurate records of food purchases and usage.
- Work within a specified budget, seeking cost effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Develop a budget with input from the Food Services Team
- Takes the lead on facilitating positive donor relations by leading the operational logistics for all food program related donations brought into Cornerstone.
**People and Interpersonal Responsibilities**
- Takes leadership in selection, orientation, training, supervision, mentoring, guidance, and evaluation of all Food Services employees.
- Produce schedule as per the Collective Agreement and utilized computerized scheduling software
- Assigns responsibilities and ensures supervision for staff, students and volunteers.
- Build and maintain relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations.
- Engage wit service-users to understand their dietary needs and preferences and implement a means of obtaining regular feedback from service-users and program staff to enhance the quality of food
- Participates as a member of the Management team and actively promotes cooperation, coordination, and synergy of effort.
- Encourages organizational participation in community and national efforts to increase food security.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Post Secondary diploma in Business Management, Culinary Arts or Hospitality considered an asset.
- Secondary School Diploma required.
- 3-5 years' Management experience in a kitchen in an institutional or residential environment such as a retirement home, supportive housing facility, emergency shelter, healthcare setting, educational institution or a related environment.
- Smart Serve certification considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.
- Certified First Aid and CPR
- Food Handlers Certification
- Access to a vehicle and G License with a clean driving record
- Ability to complete a clean Police Record Check-Vulnerable Sector or satisfactory criminal record check as required.
- Experience working with diverse populations
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good organizational and planning skills to manage competing priorities.
**Work Conditions**:
- Manual dexterity required to operate various kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long extended periods of time.
