Qc Specialist

**Position**:QC Specialist (Regulatory & Microbiology) Job Post

**Location**:Peninsula Food Technologies, 1 Northrup Crescent, St. Catharine’s, ON L2M 7M3

**Employment Type**: Full Time, Hourly (Paid Weekly)

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday (Saturdays when required).

**Hours**: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, overtime when required (overtime starts after 44hrs weekly)

**About Us**: We are a dry spice manufacturing plant located in St. Catharine’s. We provide quality spices to the food industry.

**Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following**:

- Assist with regulatory documentation including label reviews, ingredient compliance, and product specifications.
- Support HACCP, FSMA, SQF, Halal, and Kosher programs through documentation and audits.
- Assist with maintenance and verification of SQF records and documents
- Participate in regulatory and third-party audits, including preparing audit materials and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain regulatory readiness and product safety.
- Preform and analyze daily physical and chemical testing of production retain samples
- Preform and analyze Gluten, Salmonella and Microbiology testing of raw materials daily
- Ensure laboratory testing is conducted in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards (GLP/GMP)
- Ensure GMP are being followed by all production staff
- Support with daily labels required for production using LabelView
- Prepare Certification of Analysis (COA) as required
- Assist with investigation of customer complaints, and implement corrective action where necessary
- Provide backup and support for all other food quality/safety functions as required
- Perform other QA/QC functions as directed by Quality Assurance Manager

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Well organized, with strong time-management and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated, able to work with mínimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Willingness to go beyond expectations, learn new skills and take on new challenges and responsibilities
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality standards (FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI).
- Experience with various equipment’s: LabelView, PetriFilm Reader, Incubators, etc. is an asset.

**Education and Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or another relevant discipline preferred
- Experience in food manufacturing or similar industry is an asset
- 3+ years working in a micro lab is preferred
- 3+ years working in regulatory affairs is preferred

**Work Environment**:

- Required to work in-person on site at our manufacturing plant. (No option to work from home.)
- Combination of seated computer work in the office, standing or seated lab work, and standing/walking in manufacturing area.
- We are a dry spice blending facility, this creates a distinct aroma due to the spices we handle (ex: garlic, pepper, liquid smoke flavour), and the air quality can be challenging at times
- Steel-toed shoes are required. Lab coats, helmets, and hairnets will be provided and need to be worn daily. Would need to adhere to health and safety requirements and regulations.
- Long period of concentration is required; the position involves managing many high-priority issues at once, and frequent interruptions may occur

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
