Senior Civil Designer

Responsibilities Preparation of civil drawings and details from conception to final design in a 3D modelling environment such as Civil 3D, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of sites, including linear utility modelling, site grading and site servicing plan modelling/design, road and rail corridor design and modelling, and transit stations. Drive design phases and implement design standards on rail and transit and linear infrastructure projects of high complexity. Review and prepare models and drawings and work together with Engineers to develop detailed drawings, quantities and various supporting documentation. Working in various procurement strategies such as Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments to advance civil design packages. Mentoring and supervising junior and developing Technicians. Following BIM Execution Plan and BIM project requirements throughout project lifecycle. Providing support and training to junior and developing Techs on Civil 3D and project BIM standards and procedures. Adhering to GHD BIM standards and procedures and implementing compliance on project level. Providing input into BIM scope, schedule, budget when required. Quantity take-offs. Producing consistent, high quality civil deliverables. Communication with civil leads, designers, and project team members on a regular basis to ensure effective and timely flow of project information to meet scheduled deadlines. Participating, when required, in advancement of GHD Standard Civil/Transportation Details and BIM Standards including promoting changes, mentoring on updates to tools and methods, assisting with training development and lessons learned exercises. What you will bring to the team Technician/Technologist with Civil Engineering Technology diploma with background in Civil Engineering is considered an asset. 8 to 10 years of civil design and /drafting and modelling experience. (Mandatory) Proven record of site grading, site servicing, drainage and access road design using the civil 3D software, preparation of all plans, sections, profiles and details drawings (Mandatory). Remarkable experience of using corridor and pipe network module in civil 3D. Extensive experience with 3D model development, completing design, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, annotating and drafting. Superior attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills. High proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is mandatory. Knowledge of Bentley software such as Microstation and OpenRoads as well as other software such as Navisworks, Dynamo, REVIT are also considered assets. Metrolinx and rail corridor modelling grading design and modelling experience is considered an asset. Performs complex design tasks on projects with understanding of multidisciplinary environment by collaborating with team members from other disciplines for necessary inputs. Experience with quality control (QA/QC) of models and drawings for standards compliance, discipline coordination. Good understanding of level of effort required to complete the work. Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills. Competency/expertise in BIM Collaboration tools e.g. (ProjectWise, BIM 360) (Mandatory). Strong communication skills for team-based working environment and for teaching project teams about standard methodologies in BIM/CAD. Ability to interact with external entities to interpret and understand BIM/CAD requirements and BIM scope. Ability to work in multiple parallel projects and within a team environment.
