**_This new position with the Lethbridge Police Service entails liaising with the selected camera vendor, crown prosecutors and LPS management and members in coordinating the implementation, development and delivery of the body worn camera program. Under the direction of the Staff Sergeant i/c of Support Services, the BWC Coordinator will be required to develop strategies for planning, implementation, organization, and delivery of the Lethbridge Police Service body worn camera program.

In addition to the overall management of the body worn camera program the coordinator will oversee a team of employees responsible for the review, redaction and disclosure of body worn camera video as required for court disclosure, access to information requests and other related video requests. Further to the body worn camera program the coordinator will be responsible for managing other police issued equipment as identified by the Staff Sergeant which may include but not limited to radios, conducted energy weapons or other de-escalation equipment.

**As the BWC Coordinator you will**:

- Create, develop and monitor the implementation of the body worn camera program.
- Supervise employees responsible for the disclosure of body worn camera video.
- Train sworn officers on the operation of the body worn camera and related software.
- Train civilian employees on the operation of disclosure software.
- Coordinate and organize the inventory, maintenance and repair work of all body worn cameras and related equipment.
- Make decisions on urgent or emergency requests relating to LPS body worn cameras and related equipment
- Make Decisions/recommendations on purchasing.
- Assist Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section on developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Assist Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section on planning, organizing, as well evaluate daily operations/needs.
- Research/plan/design continual improvements/advancements in the area of body worn cameras and related disclosure.
- Provide recommendations to Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section on purchase decisions for potential new equipment based on LPS needs/requirements.
- Attend meetings with outside stakeholders on a regular basis - relaying information back to Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section (body worn camera vendor, agency partners, provincial government, etc.)
- Managing the body worn camera budget nearing one million dollars per year.
- Working collaboratively at all levels of the organization for needs assessment for their body worn camera and equipment needs.
- Prepare regular reports on the status of the body worn program to be shared with the Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section and LPS leadership.
- Review and redact body worn camera footage to assist the disclosure team in managing workload as required.
- Other miscellaneous administrative duties as required by the Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section.
- Build and manage respectful and productive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Manage, test, maintain and audit other equipment identified by the Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section.
- Other related duties as required/assigned by the Staff Sergeant i/c of the Support Services Section.
- High School Diploma plus up to two years of post secondary education in law enforcement, digital media, data management or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.
- Significant computer skills and experience in Microsoft office (i.e. word, excel) as well as experience with video editing/ redaction.
- Experience in the area of body worn cameras, conducted energy weapons, or other police issued equipment is strongly preferred.
- Significant experience and knowledge of law enforcement databases is strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing/supervising others.
- Ability to multi task and prioritize under pressure is a required skill set.
- Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills. Experience in developing and performing auditing of the output of employees is an asset.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with LPS staff, contractors, stakeholders and the public.
- Knowledge of the operational needs of a law enforcement agency is required.
- This _**_permanent full-time_**_ position falls under the protection of a collective agreement associated to the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 70 contract. CUPE Local 70 represents employees who are employed in number of civic departments within the City of Lethbridge._

**Wage**:$47.69 per hour (2025 Interim Job Rate)

**Hours**: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
