**Role Summary**
Reporting to the AVP, Management Insights & Analysis, this role will lead a team responsible for providing financial advice and support to Sun Life Health (SLH) leaders identifying risks and opportunities to drive expense optimization and recommending corrective actions to ensure spend efficiency and productivity improvement are pursued and executed.
This highly visible role will lead strategic and business plans for SLH expenses, partner with SLH leaders and Partners to identify productivity savings and continuous improvement initiatives, review and influence key initiative cost and benefits, and enhance expense reporting and allocation processes with deep dive expense analytics for key decision making.
A high level of critical thinking, analytic skills, and agility to manage multiple tasks will be required for this role.
**What will you do?**
- Build and lead a high performing team providing mentoring to enhance their skills and performance with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Lead and enhance SLH operating expense reporting, forecasting, deep dive analysis with value-added insights.
- Lead and simplify the expense allocation process.
- Prepare and present effective expense material to leaders that identifies trends, risks, efficiency opportunities, actionable insights, and recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with business areas, Operations, CXO, Central & Corporate functions and DBTS to support achieving expense targets.
- Lead internal and external benchmarking cost studies.
- Lead client analytics leveraged for pricing.
- Lead annual strategic and business plans for expenses and budget process.
- Support annual pricing and valuation studies.
- Support leaders with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required.
**What do you need to succeed?**
- Financial designation (CPA, CFA)
- Strategic mindset and able to understand SLH businesses and operations to support value added insights.
- Demonstrated expertise in expenses and understanding of cost drivers.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Superior analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Able to prioritize and effectively organize tasks with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight timelines.
- Energetic initiative-taker who takes initiative and works with minimum supervision.
- Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong relationship management and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem solving and robust data analytical skills.
- Capable of distilling complex concepts into simple key messages and insights.
- Experience with financial planning tools (e.g. SAP, Hyperion Planning and Reporting, Tableau)
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required **for Quebec only** for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
**What will be nice to have?**
- 7+ years of Insurance and/or Financial Services Industry experience.
- Strong understanding and experience in expense management.
- Proven experience communicating and presenting to leaders.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team.
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 and expense segmentation.
