**Safety & Compliance Trainer**
The Driver Training Coordinator is part of the Safety and Compliance group and reports to the Safety Manager - Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professional interaction with all employees of the company in a spirit of coaching and support
- Training and coaching of new and existing drivers and employees on use of applicable tools, equipment
- Conduct new hire orientations on drivers, mechanics, and office staff
- Assist with the on-boarding of new drivers as needed
- Conduct road tests on potential new drivers to observe and evaluate knowledge, operating behaviors, and compliance with regulations
- Follow up and re-training as required when deficiencies are anticipated or identified
- Conduct re-certifications, training and road evaluations with existing drivers
- Facilitate training of new and existing drivers and employees on Federal OH&S/DOT/NSC regulations, company policies, procedures and other safety and compliance areas
- Trains and coaches high risk drivers ensuring consistent and constructive intervention
- Conducts re-training as required following collisions, near misses, incidents and/or negative work habit observations
- Proactively ensure that compliance to company and regulatory standards are accurately tracked and documented, including driver file compliance/auditing and data entry
- Satellite system training - train drivers and staff on electronic logging system use
- Proactive driver log monitoring, auditing and follow up
- Follow up with all on-board triggered events (lane departure, speed, stability control, headway monitoring, collision avoidance, hours of service, etc.)
- Follow up and action item establishment with triggered video events
- Assist in incident investigations in partnership with safety, maintenance, and operations to ensure proper documentation and follow up with completion of a final incident report when required
- A contributing member of the joint workplace health and safety committee
- Development, maintenance and annual review of job hazard analyses and physical demands analyses for all tasks and positions within the company
- Facilitate bi-annual emergency drills (initiate, document and follow up)
- Driver hazard assessment review and follow up
- Random driver and equipment compliance inspections
- Assist Manager with other duties as required
