Atripco is seeking to expand our operations and looking for a **Fleet Trainer **to join our growing team. As a Fleet Trainer, reporting to the GM, this new role will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training and development programs aimed at growing the skills and abilities of our Driving Team. In addition, this person will play a key part in the orientation of new Drivers into the organization across all locations in Ontario and serve as a Champion in Safety Culture to support implementation and governance of legislative requirements in alignment with company policy. Ultimately, you will work closely with Drivers and different departments to ensure operations run smoothly and our vehicles, are maintained based on our standards and that all compliance requirments are met.
- **Note: This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of full-term appointment. Work schedule is Saturday - Wednesday.**_
What you will be doing:
- Assist with driver hiring and onboarding and driver training and onboarding, this includes manage and maintain all driver qualifications (i.e., Driver's Abstract, CVOR, ensurevalid Driver license copy).
- Conduct road evaluations for new/current drivers (i.e., written & practical road test for driver renewals) to the ensure they are a competent driver, in addition to managing the training, reporting, tracking, and evaluations; ensures documentation is properly collected and maintained.
- Evaluates and trains drivers and Owenr Operators (O/O) on the safe operation of equipment; develops and maintains driver scorecard(s); assists with annual driver reviews.
- Ensure all vehicles have up to date documentation on-board, including but not limited to; ownership, insurance, plates, company specific driver resource binder.
- Review and follow up on any infractions, claims, convictions, incidents, and accidents as they occur and take corrective action or training as required with supporting documentation.
- Provide coaching on safe driving techniques (following distance, forward collision, roll stability, hard braking, etc.)
- Investigating preventability of incidents/accidents involving company drivers and recommending corrective actions to eliminate re-occurrences
- Follow all accident procedures and file claims with insurance. Follow up with insurance company about on-going claims. Follow up with drivers to fill out all forms and provide any re-training.
- Serve as an active member of the JH&SC to ensure site compliance is maintained.
- Analyze and generate reports as required to determine accident trends and providing recommendation for resolution.
- Run quarterly safety meetings with all drivers and owner operators as needed.
- Identify trends in unsafe practices, accidents, incidents and assess any training needs among drivers and coordinate accordingly.
What we are looking for
- 2-5 years’ experience working in the Safety & Compliance.
- Experience in home delivery/ warehouse environment would be a desirable attribute but is not absolutely necessary.
- Successful completion of the “Ontario Driving Instructor Course” would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian trucking regulations including Driver Hours of Service,
- Experience with Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections along with Transportation of Dangerous Goods/Hazmat.
- Strong knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations.
- Able to maintain confidentiality in matters regarding security or personnel issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Highly organized and communicative - must be able to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Computer literate (MS Office and Teams) and comfortable with new software and interfaces.
- Serve as positive role model to always uphold company image and reputation and hold a positive and team attitude.
- Available to work weekends / evenings to meet business demands and be able to work with little supervision.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
**Salary**: $52,000.00-$57,000.00 per year
