This includes but is not limited to; Fear Free Certification, Recover CPR, Hands Free Radiation, Employment Standards, AAHA, WHMIS, OHS, etc. Technical Applications & Role Awareness - Efficiently, accurately, and safely perform animal handling and restraint (including difficult or fractious patients) - Ensure hospitalized patients are clean, comfortable, exercised, and fed according to instructions provided. - Frequently monitors all in-hospital patients and accurately records details relating to feeding, appearance, or behavior. Immediately reports any changes to the assigned team. - Provides direct assistance to Technicians, Doctors, and general assistance throughout the hospital. This may include assisting with appointments, treatments, procedures, and surgeries. - Reconciles and unpacks orders. Displays awareness of inventory and stock numbers. - Assist in setting up IV fluid bags and lines. - Respect the confidentiality of client and patient information. - Ensure cleanliness of facilities including cleaning kennels, laundry, mopping and cleaning of hospital (lobby, exam rooms, treatment areas, etc). - A healthy work-life balance is important to us As such, schedules will include a mix of day shift, night shift, weekends, and holidays to help create a schedule that will allow for life outside of work. Qualifications: - Veterinary Assistant diploma preferred or equivalent experience in the Veterinary industry. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. - Initiative in carrying out assignments independently. - Computer proficiency - Multitasking and strong organizational skills - Kind, compassionate, and responsible disposition - Problem solving skills with the ability to adapt, be creative, and offer quick and effective solutions. - Ability to work in teams and thrive in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
